It was nervy moments for everyone in the Arsenal camp after Sheffield drew level late in Arsenal’s match with a trip to Wembley on the line. There were plenty of reasons for Arsenal fans to groan as they saw the net bulge after a poor attempt to clear lines from Kolasinac and a goal was gifted.
Set pieces have been a concern all year for the Gunners and today was case in point. Long throws, corners, set pieces from Arsenal’s 13 fouls all saw dangerous moments and in the end, was too much to handle.
After the game, Arteta commented on being pleased with the fight and the response to adversity. It would not have been the first game this season Arsenal conceded late and simply saw the game out with a limp or went on to lose everything. Seeing the team rebound and seize their opportunity to put in a late winner is encouraging growth.
What a time for Arsenal to get a rare goal from the midfield. Dani Ceballos pounced on a loose ball in the box, skated by an onrushing defender, and slotted it past the Sheffield keeper who will look back and know he got his angles a bit wrong. Arsenal won’t mind one bit.
Off to Wembley for a semi-final! I will have a longer more complete write up later. Enjoy the win!
