It has been reported today, in a Brentford fan forum, that they will be playing today, June 10th, against Arsenal. This would be the second, and likely final, friendly in the lead up to Arsenal’s first official match back, versus Manchester City.
Four days on from Arsenal putting six past Charlton Athletic, Arteta and his squad will play again. It closely aligns with the gap in days the Gunners can expect once the season returns and is in full swing. The initial friendly saw two very different Arsenal lineups play 45 minutes each resulting in two first half goals from captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, and 4 second-half goals including a hat trick from Eddie Nketiah. The defense managed a clean sheet and players were able to get a little bit of match fitness to step up their preparation.
Today, it is believed that Arteta will be more willing to give specific players a longer run of time before making major changes, but the general purpose of the match will be to continue to gain match fitness.
We don’t believe that there will be any form of coverage or stream of the match, so similar to the Charlton match, we will have to wait for the post-match report and highlights. Hopefully the official Arsenal page will be willing to supply those once again.
After writing on 3 intriguing points from the match against Charlton earlier this week, I will be very curious to see what carries through and if we see any more of those same things.
Looking forward to reporting back to you throughout the day.
